Welcome to St Michael's Orthodox Church

St Michael’s is a parish in the Orthodox Church, which preserves the apostolic faith and traces an unbroken lineage of succession back to the apostles. Most Orthodox parishes are in Eastern Europe, Russia, Greece, and the Middle East.

We operate under the authority of the Western Rite Vicariate of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America and celebrate the Divine Liturgy of St. Gregory in English, with some Latin.

The Church of Antioch traces its roots to first century Antioch, the city in which the disciples of Jesus Christ were first called Christians (Acts 11:26).

Our Parish was formed in 1977, and entered the Orthodox Church in 1981. The congregation consists of people from the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area and includes members from various ethnic backgrounds: Mexican, Ecuadorian, Korean, Chinese, Palestinian, Eritrean, Greek, English, German, Irish, South African, West African, and others.

Iconography based on a fresco of the Crucifixion from Santa Maria Antiqua in Rome, circa 750 by Dom Joseph-Marie, an Orthodox Benedictine Monk at Ladyminster Monastery
